Two things of note: (1) I'll be starting a short contract position next week. It's not the "dream job", but it will be providing me with the income to look for it a little longer! (2) I'll be moving down to the L.A. area immediately after. Hopefully, I'll be able to find some contacts in the SoCal design scene, soon!

Part of being a good designer is being a good communicator. If you're unable to communicate your ideas, they don't really have much use, right? I like to think that communication is one of my strong points; so much so that the director of my previous job indicated that I was the most effective communicator on his staff, making me his most valuable employee. High praise, indeed.

In the design world, besides the usual forms of transmitting information from place to place via e-mail, fax, telephone, meetings, etc, sketching is a skill not properly recognized. This is not to say I consider myself an expert sketcher by any means, but I do view it as a valuable tool that I have often used with great results. Therefore, I've added a few sample sketches to my portfolio, to give you an idea of how I communicate with the client and my design teams (not to mention simply taking my ideas from my head to reality).
