When referring to shots she had to get before a trip to some far away land (possibly Canada), my friend described her feelings to me in ol skool haiku:

Three quick pricks, dull ache
Vaccinations suck my ass
Mount Fuji in mist

You see, the true beauty lies in the dichotomy between the sucking of ass and the misting of mount.

I just spent over an hour on a conference call with some of my design team in Singapore and our client HP, in which I said exactly three things:
[1] “Hi! How are you?”
[2] “OK, no problem.”
[3] “Thanks, bye.”

bleh

They say the world gets smaller and smaller as the means of communication get easier and easier. Consequently, I am taking up a small collection for a select group of us to move to Jupiter. On second thought, I am taking up a large collection for a large group of everyone else to move to Jupiter. Operators are standing by, free mug with every donation over $50,000…

I saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon last weekend, and it was quite awesome. “They” say that it’s one of the 100 best movies of all time. Well, I’ve not seen all of the Establishment’s 99 other movies, but, I can safely say that flying+martial arts+non-super-sappy-love-story+more martial arts=kick ass movie…

So, I’ve started archiving my posts (look waaaaay down there), which in retrospect is hilarious. It’s almost like:

Some guy: “Dude, Dave Kleeman is saving all of his thoughts for posterity.”
Some other guy: “Who’s Dave Kleeman?”

Exactly.

Working for a design consultancy, I have so many meetings during the week, every week, that some days I’m never even in the office and instead spend the time driving around SIlicon Valley. It’s gotten to the point where it seems like the only real reason to meet anymore is because we did last week and we’re starting to miss each other…well, and also the free Cokes.

I’ve only just started it, but I’m already in love with the book Infinite Jest. Any fan of David Foster Wallace will appreciate what I consider his magnum opus….OK, so maybe I’ve never actually read any of Dave’s work before and I’m paraphrasing an Amazon review. Nevertheless, I really do like it, and I already liken it to a book I actually have read, A Confederacy of Dunces by the tragic John Kennedy Toole. I can safely say that if you are overtly interested in the extraordinarily arrogant opinions of a hot-dog vendor, then this socially satirical book is definitely for you. Well, it was for me anyway…

I was wrong about something last night.

You know how when you get a package, and it’s filled with bubble-wrap, and you start to pop it, and then when you look around again it’s 4 days later? This is like that. I’ve already posted this link on my main page, but it somehow bears repeating.

Let me take a break from our regularly scheduled program to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Much has been said the past week about whether Dr. King was really as relevant to civil rights issues as we make him out to be. That is, was he as pious, as pure, and as compassionate in real life as our memories have created him to be? In much the same way that I’m sure Einstein was probably incorrect from time to time, Dr. King was undoubtedly a flawed individual just like the rest of us. The question, though, is: Does that really matter? I say, and I hope you’ll agree, no. When dealing with issues like the equality of human beings, the Concepts are always bigger than the Man, what really counts is what that man (or woman) represents. So, for that reason, raise your glass, nod your head, tilt your hat, salute deferentially, or otherwise take a moment and do the man the honor of your consideration…or not, the choice is yours of course. Please, discuss amongst yourselves…

ALERT! According to the Police Blotter in the Palo Alto Daily News, officers were alerted to the 700 block of Los Trancos Road at approximately 8:15 PM last Thursday with reports that a security guard at Hewlett house had a loaded gun under the front seat of his car! Am I ever glad that got taken care of.

In related news, Los Altos police were dispatched to San Antonio and Jordan at 11:10 PM on Friday with reports of a dead skunk…

More breaking news as it comes available.
